Privacy
Last updated 23 August 2026
The short version: we keep your photos private, we never sell your data, we use third parties to generate and deliver your portraits, and you can have everything deleted by emailing us.
1Who we are
Pet Easel (“we”) turns photographs of pets into painted portraits. If you have a question about this policy or want your data deleted, email privacy@peteasel.com.
2What we collect
- Your email address, so we can sign you in and send your order. We do not use passwords.
- Photos you upload, and the portraits generated from them.
- Order details — what you bought and when. Card details go directly to Stripe; we never receive them.
- A one-way hash of your IP address, used only to limit how many free previews can be generated from one connection. We do not store the address itself and cannot recover it from the hash.
- Your name and shipping address, only if you order a canvas.
3Your photos
Your photos are stored in a private location and are not publicly accessible. We do not show them to other customers, publish them, sell them, or use them to train AI models.
To make your portrait, your photo is sent to Google’s Gemini API, and the resulting portrait is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to be checked for likeness. Both are named in the table below.
We would like to show some portraits as examples on this site. We will only ever do that with your specific permission, asked for separately. Not replying is not permission.
4How long we keep things
- Uploaded photos: deleted 90 days after upload. We only need them long enough to make your portrait and to remake it if something goes wrong.
- Portraits: kept in your gallery for as long as your account exists, so you can download them again.
- Order records: kept for 7 years, because tax and accounting law requires it. These are records of a transaction, not your photos.
- Everything else: deleted when you ask.
5Deleting your data
You can do it yourself, immediately, from your account page. It removes your account, your photos and your portraits straight away — no waiting and no reason needed.
If you would rather we did it, email privacy@peteasel.com from the address on your account and we will do it within 30 days.
Order records are kept as described above. If you have an unfulfilled canvas order, we will complete or refund it first.
6Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We use the following third parties to run the service. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
| Company | Location | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel | United States | Hosting and web analytics. Sees IP addresses and page requests. |
| Supabase | United States | Database, authentication and file storage. Holds your email, your uploaded photos and your portraits. |
| Google (Gemini API) | United States | Reads your photo to describe your pet, and generates the portrait from it. |
| Anthropic (Claude API) | United States | Checks each generated portrait against your photo for likeness before you see it. |
| Stripe | United States | Payment processing. Receives your email and card details directly — we never see or store card numbers. |
| Gelato | United States | Prints and ships canvases. Receives your name, shipping address and the portrait file. Only used if you order a print. |
| Resend | United States | Sends transactional email. Receives your email address. |
| Inngest | United States | Job queue that runs portrait generation. Sees job identifiers, not photos. |
| Meta | United States | Advertising measurement, if you consented to it. See "Cookies and tracking". |
7Cookies and tracking
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. It cannot be turned off without breaking sign-in.
We use Vercel Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not identify you individually.
If we run advertising, we use the Meta Pixel to measure whether ads work. Where the law requires consent — including the UK and EU — the Pixel does not load unless you agree to it.
8Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, export it, or object to how we use it. Email us and we will help. We will not charge you or make it difficult.
If you are in the UK or EU and think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority.
9Children
This service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10Changes
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will email you before it takes effect.
