Terms
Last updated 23 August 2026
The short version: your portraits are made by AI from the photo you send, you own what you buy and can print it as much as you like, you must own the photo you upload, and if you are unhappy we refund you.
1These terms
By using Pet Easel you agree to these terms. If you do not, please do not use the service. We may update them; if a change materially affects you we will email you before it takes effect.
2What we do
You upload a photograph of an animal. We produce a painted portrait of that animal, shown to you first as a free watermarked preview. If you buy, you receive full-resolution files without a watermark, and can optionally order a printed canvas.
3Portraits are generated by AI
Your portrait is produced by artificial intelligence, not painted by a human artist. We say this plainly because it affects what you should expect. No person paints your portrait by hand at any point.
Images generated by the underlying models may carry invisible provenance watermarking that identifies them as AI-generated. This is embedded by the model provider and we cannot remove it.
4The photos you upload
You confirm that you own the photograph you upload, or have permission from whoever does, and that uploading it does not break anyone else’s rights.
You give us permission to use that photograph for the sole purpose of producing your portraits. We do not use it for anything else — not advertising, not training AI models, not showing to other customers — unless you separately and specifically agree.
Please do not upload photographs of people, anything illegal, or anything offensive. We may refuse or remove uploads and, if necessary, close accounts.
5What you own
When you buy a portrait, you get a perpetual, worldwide licence to use it for any personal or commercial purpose. Print it, frame it, put it on a card, sell prints of your own pet — it is yours to use.
Until you buy, the preview is licensed only for you to look at and decide. Please do not remove the watermark or publish it as though it were the finished thing.
We keep ownership of the site, the software, and the prompts and styles behind it. Buying a portrait does not give you rights to those.
6Results are not guaranteed
AI output varies. A portrait may not look the way you hoped, and photographs that are blurry, dark, distant or contain several animals produce noticeably worse results. Every portrait is automatically checked for likeness before you see it, but that check is not perfect.
This is exactly why the preview is free and comes before payment: you see what you are buying first. We do not guarantee any particular artistic outcome.
7Payment and refunds
Prices are shown before you pay and charged through Stripe. We never see your card details.
If you are unhappy with your portraits, email us and we will refund you. You do not need to argue the case. Digital files cannot be returned, so we ask you to be honest, and we may decline repeated refunds on the same account.
Canvases are made to order and cannot be resold, so once printing has started we cannot cancel. If your canvas arrives damaged or wrong, tell us within 30 days with a photograph and we will reprint or refund it.
8Your account
You sign in with an email link, so keep access to that mailbox secure. Tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You may close your account at any time — see the privacy policy for how deletion works.
9Availability
We aim to keep the service running but do not promise it will always be available. We depend on third-party providers and they occasionally fail. If we cannot deliver something you paid for, we refund it.
10Liability
Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
